Help to the Speaker

Ill get back to the other thing later.
so my life has been a little bit crazy. I have started school, become the vice president of Model United Nations, i have a drivers license, and so much more.
Ok. has anyone ever listened to a song and thought it would make a great scene in a movie musical scene? i have that happening to me a ton.
for example, i was riding the bus at 4:45 this afternoon and i was listening to "March of the Black Queen" by Queen. good song. but for some reason my mind quit reading the book i was reading and went on a musical journey. I was in a lunch room and people were talking to me like they were tryingto set me up on a date and all of a sudden Malika was walking in the room wearing an all black dress and the guys were telling me to follow her and pick up a spear and a sheild and fight for her. weird.
I met a girl. well met isnt the right word. Typical boy meets girl story. Boy meets girl in geometry freshan year. ignores her. sees her everyday on the way to class sophomore year. thinks he should of said something last year. Sees her this year and cant stop thinkingabout her. He talks to her this year. Her best friend hates him. The girl talks to him and they get along well. they get along so well they talk to each other till 2 in th morning in facebook but rarely speak to each other in public.
Yeah. like i said. typical. its an odd thing. everytime i listen to The Police, i think of her. i have no idea why. any way.
If you guys want me to have a musical vision, post a comment with a song title and the artist.
I often find myself being the hopeless romantic. i have all the skills but have only a problem starting. but im getting better.
The beatles apreciation day has passed and i celebrated by only isteningto beatles music and wearing my abbey road shirt. currently i am into the police. its all cool for now.

Thoughts on the Existence of God

Most people live their day to day lives not thinking of their being or meaning of existance. They let others people do the thinking for them. Nowadays, i find that thru television and video games and even music, our meaning of life is driven into us and we simply accept their word for truth. and not only the meaning of life is given to us, but what to believe. Is evolution the only way i can come to be? What happened to god?
I had an interesting conversation with an old middle school aquiantance on facebook. He sadi he was going to school for spirit week on character day as Satan. i asked him why and he said that he didnt believe in god and so he doesnt beleive in satan either. Since ihad been studying the socratic method in my IB Philosophy class and i decided to continue the conversation. I asked him some questions in a supportive manner and he answered that he was atheist (a up and coming religion of the modern world). our discussion moved on to how the earth was created and he answered the evolution theory. but in the end the overall agreement was that it takes just as much faith to beleive in the evolution theory as it takes to believe in a god (i have to give credit to my father for this one.).
I have come to the conclusion that god must exist. Why do you ask? just pick a position.

Here are my thoughts, not to be considered truth to anyone but myself. I believe the judeo christian god created the heavens and the earth with order and terms for man to undrstand in complexity. He created one of every species, including humans. As time progressed, continental drift occured spreading out the animals, whom dinosuars were among, but the dinos died due to the flood according to noah. with continental drift, the animals were subjecgt to adaptation/evolution and formed new species according to their needs. I personally am a christian deist. I believe that god was once involved in the affairs of man and constantly withdrew himself due to corruption amongst humans. he sent jesus as his last physicall/visual time amongst humans. he left the HS to help if asked for. BUt he left the world alone after that. This results in my belief that christians need to stop praying so much and not doing anything and start trying to make a difference without coming off as jerks.

I appreciate the comments, keep'e coming. i like a working brain

Fitting into a Stereotype

my favorite song this time is "I've got my mind set on you" by George Harrison

For most people, they dont have trouble fitting into roles modern-day televison has set for us. The nerds can only be interested in RPG's, comic books, and Star Wars. The jocks can only be obsessed with sports, scool rivalries, and beating up the dorks. (I want to be clear about something first, nerds, geeks and dorks are completly different. Nerds are smart, geeks are obsessed about one subject, and dorks are somewhere in the middle). Those are a few of the major stereotypes but here are some more now found in highschool.

Cheerleaders- preppy girls and sometimes gay guys who are self-centered and often date the jocks
Jocks- sports-oriented and beat on the rest of the stereotypes and date the cheerleaders
Otakus-the group mainly focused on all things japanese. manga, anime, video games from japan. you name it
Band Geeks- not to be confused with orchetstra geeks. these people focus on music classical.
Orch Geeks- not to be confused with band geeks. thes peole are focused on classical music
Nerds- these people focus on all acedemics and nothing else
Geniuses- not to be confused with nerds. thes people are smart but still have time for ohter activities
Metalheads- thes guys not only like metal music, but live and breath metal. Not punks although very similiar and friendly to each other
Goths- May lik metal music but not focused on music. dark and gloomy due to terrible experience
Punks- anti-establishment and for rebellion, but fun to hang with. cigarettes, alcohol, and sometimes pot are present.
Artists- spend their time drawing in class andare friendly to otakus
Rockers- Rock and roll all the way. not hard core like metalheads but more open to aother forms of rock. generally anti rap
Skaters- close to punks minus the music and add some boards
Gays- i dont want to talk about it but they are there
Rappers- generally made up of blacks but white guys can be present.

those are the basics but there are a ton more.

But why is it some of us cant fit into these stereotypes. for example, me. I dont really fit in with any of these groups (especially the gay category), and yet they all get along with me. I am an artist, rocker, otaku, genius, and yet i can appreciate the other groups. I appreciate the intricate art of metal, the rebellion of punk, the spirit of the cheerleaders, and pessimism of the goths. but how is it that people still have such a hard time fitting in?

most people put themselves in stereotypes and clubs so they have a sense of acceptance. Others to have a place where they arent criticized by others for their gifts and talents. But most people and myself wonder, where do we fit in?

Sorry for the wait...

Hey guys sorry for the wait. It sure has been awhile. As some of you know, I have been in Europe (England and France) and I havent said anything becuase i have been processing it all.
Just for clarifacation, this picture was taken by my friend Beau @ the Eagle and Child in Oxford, England. The Eagle and Child was a pub that CS Lewis and Tolkein often visited. I am in the back and center, in the shadow drinking an alcoholic beverage.
To keep the story short here is what i did all in one sentance and in one breath.
"I went to england after visiting Hillsdale college, toured Winston Churchill's key places, saw museums, went to France, toured all the D-day beaches, went to Paris and came back home."
It was a load of fun and I hope I can do it again. However, while I was gone I did meet some one who I hope and pray I will meet again for an extended time. It was great but it couldnt last due to some distance trouble.
The real purpose of this post is the recent discussion over the new healthcare policy. I would like you to keep in mind that I am only 16 and have been recently in contact with extreme conservatives.
The Republicans and the Democrats have both been acting like children. The republicans complain about Obama's proposed policies saying that everyone is going to die. The Democrats are also to blame due to them calling conservatives unamerican. I would like to point out that the conservatives generally live like americans have lived in the last 40 years and the democrats shouldnt be calling them unamerican and Nancy Pelosi is majoritively at fault for the unamerican comment. The conservatives have made a big fuss over everything which they are entitled to. However, the conservatives I have come in contact with dont have all the facts and yell at Obama for "killing the senior citizens". I sympathize with neither party and being an independant justifies this. I have a personal message for both party readers out there.
For Conservatives: Since most conservatives tend to be christians, according to the bible we shouldnt be too caught up in the goings on of this world. You may have lost the election but dont give up on fighting for your beliefs, but that doesnt mean that you can make a big fuss over everything.
For Democrats: Please use power reponsibly, you do have control of the government but you need to be more representative of the people. and then you will have the approval of the people.

So here I am again. My favorite song now is "All My Loving" by the Beatles.

So as of today I am officially 6 foot 6 inches. Yeah that was a little unexpected and I exceeded the height chart they had at the doctors. I had 1 hepatitus A shot, 1 Tetnus addidtive shot, and they dd blood work so my arms hurt. I did my Beatles presentation project at school today and got a 96. thats ok, but i got to give my props to Kelly for her wig project. So I was thinking about the other day in English Class. I was drawing like I normally do when I have nothing to do and there was this girl that sits in front of me named Tyler Gail who was our class president this year. Well I admired her integrity and her politically conservative demeanor and I felt kind of guilty about saying that earlier I would love to move to Alaska if Palin wasnt Govenor there. So I decided to draw her and a cartoon picture of her expiramenting on a new technique I was practicing. So I finished it in 45 min. and I showed it to her. It was a wonderfull composition, probably the best i had ever done in that style and she looked at it and laughed at it. I went to an art club and showed them the picture and they were all admiring the work I had done and said whoever i drew it for should be ecstatic over a wonderfull piece of art. it felt really bad. Dont you hate it when you do something that comes deep form the heart for someone you care about and they mock it and rub it in your face? i do. I got a Chemistry exam tommorow. Bye.

My Friends

My favorite song is The Unforgiven by Metallica for this week
So was thinking the this morning about my yearbook i bought earlier in the year and just received on monday. I flipped through the book recollecting old yet recent memories. I wondered about my friends; my REAL friends. not just the people wanting something from me or is in a friendship for the rewards. So this is a list of all the people who I believe are my real friends and why. (not in any order of preference or favoritism)

Kelly Henrikson- she always supports me with constructive criticism even when i dont want any and listens to the crap I continually expel from my lips.

Bia Maltby- He may be short but he is a fierce fighter for God and I consider him my peer.

Grant Matthews- If i ever had a problem and was very emotional I would call him and not be afraid to sheda tear. I cant believe we arent related!

Derek Matthews- He is the other part of Grant, and the exact opposite. He is hyper and very social and is a great person to chillax with. Hammer Time!!!

Stella- Although I have a personal thing for asians, I think we have a tight bond a sophomore and a freshman. She is an amazing artist and I look forward seeing her everyday. I cry at the fact I wont see her at all this summer or next year. I love being around her.

Ryan Peachy- He is my man. My homeboy-not-from-the-hood. We are tight.

Kevin Cave- He may go to Page (for those of you who live under a rock, Page and Grimsley are arch-rivals), but he is the man at basketball

Push/ Pdeb- He was there for me when I first started highschool and this year he is a senior and I will miss him so much. I can only hope to repay him by driving his brother to school next year as a Junior.

Ben Tan- I was his camp counselor during summer vacation and he is the man who always hit his head on the cieling when I called his name. Not because hes tall, but because he slept on the top bunk in a low drop room.
Nikhil Umesh- Even I constantly tell him I'm going to kick his ass, I secretly envy him and he has set a goal for what I wish to acheive acedemically. He has helped my study for tests at the last minute and expected nothing in return except for what to look for on the test after I take it.
Stephanie- She taught me how to draw anime. sort of.
Steph- She deserves a huge shout out. She got me into Model UN and reminds me and ecourages my enthusaism for my country. Denmark!
The list may grow but those are the overall people who come to mind and I hope if you saw your name on here, that you would comment on it. PLEASE. Or at least tell me you liked it

Mr. Underdemeciated (a.k.a Mr. Underappreciated)

Hello. My name is Mr. Underdemeciated. If you dont understandwhat that means then here is the explanation. In the movie Bedtime Stories, Uncle Skeeter tells his neice and nephew stories that come to life. The first story he tells is about himself and calls himself Mr Underappreciated and his nephew couldnt pronounce the word appreciated and called him Underdemeciated. So he changes is name to Sir Fix-a-lot.

I am Mr Underdemeciated because I work hard for little or no payoff, do it without complaint in hopes of the best, and try to do it with a cheerfull attitude.

Working hard is the first part of being Mr Underdemeciated. That means that You work to the best of your ability doing usually mind-numbing tasks for little to no payoff. For example, I regularly work for Mosaic church setting up chairs for the congregation and doing odd jobs around the place such as setting up the slide screen, ushering, teardown, and pretty much that kind of stuff. I only recall 2 people ever thanking me, EVER. That is a wonderfull man named Mr. Maltby, who regularly thanks me, and Mr. Kim who occasionally thanks me. And for that I gratefully thanks them. And by doing hard work I am often given more tasks to complete becasue I am trusted to do what I do. Or as Wolverine puts it "My names Logan, and I am the best at doing what I do."

Not complaining is another major role. By not complaining you are a pleasant person to be around and by not complaining people can trust you do do other things without making a big mess of things. If I were to complain, people would probably not ask me to do stuff anymore or some people would make me work harder and try to knock out the complaining. And by hoping for the best, it makes the work much easier. For example, set up chairs silently and hope by doing so I would be noticed and moved on to a more gratifying task such as playing a tiny part on bass in the worship band. I am also trying to start up a band of my own; looking for patrons!

By completing tasks with a cheerfull attitude, you are more likely to gain attention and be moved up if needed. Although it doesnt help if your father finds all your faults and no one ever notices.
Its nice to be noticed and its pleasing to be recognized for all your hard work, but just keep in mind that if your not a mr. underdemeciated, than you are no help to a cause, for its the underappreciated who keep things running and if all underappreciatted left, than everything would fall to ruin. So. Are a Mr. Underdemeciated?

"All You Need is Love"

Hey there. This is the first installment of the Ivan Siler Blog and please dont laugh at it.

So. I am a regular Beatles listener and often find myself in the positions the songs are based on.

My top 5 songs (not in any order) are Blackbird, Help!, All you need is love, Helter Skelter, and Magical Mystery Tour. I like them but my top 5 are constantly changing.

I was wondering the other day if that was really true. "All you need is love" I mean that if all you need is love than nothing else matters. Does a job matter? A home? Family?

Here is a first hand experience. In February, I had a special someone, who's name wont be revealed, who I wanted to ask out, but unfortunatly I had my little friend called inferiority complex try to change my mind. So I decided on writing her a poem after a failed one-on-five confrontation. All I can say is that it didn't end well. Now if all I needed was love, then I would of won the girl got married and everything would be fine and dandy, but it didn't. Not to say that the "all you need is love" theory is incorrect but it works under certain circumstances.

Now if Person A likes Person B but B doesnt have any love for the person than it is doomed to fail and the "AYNIL" theory is proven wrong. However, If B likes Person C and C can return the love in a equal or higher quantity than the relationship will work.

G+B=N
G= geek
B= beauty
N= Not conceivable

B+H= "AYNIL"
B= beauty
H= handsome
